About

NeighborGood is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2016 by Harvard University students. Our team cares deeply and personally about building community and ensuring that chronically ill and/or disabled people do not suffer from isolation or lack of care. Our goal is to connect, in other words “match” volunteers with individuals who can greatly benefit from having an extra helping hand to assist with basic household tasks, errands, or companionship.

How it works

As a NeighborGood volunteer, you will tell us about yourself and your availability. We will connect with you briefly, (5-10 minutes) over Skype to get to know you, and then match you with a helpee (someone who needs your help). Matches are made primarily based on three criteria: availability, location, and type of help needed/offered.

Once a match is made, we send both the Volunteer and Helpee an e-mail with the date and time of the volunteer match. Participation is free and we do not allow volunteers to accept payment or tips.

After each match, we ask that you and your helpee fill out a brief feedback survey regarding your experience. This helps us improve our matching service, vet participants, and share positive or constructive feedback with your match. After submitting the survey, you can sign up to help again in the future.
